I ordered this online because it was the size I wanted in a fireplace with bookshelves. Once I received it, I had to put it together and noticed it was 100% Made in China. One of the boards split in the bookend when I tightened the cam lock fastener onto the cam bolt. So I had to use some wood glue and a c-clamp overnight to repair that. And a few more cam-locks just bent open after I tightened them - and I was not tightening them too hard. Luckily extra hardware pieces were included and I had to use all of them. Very cheap hardware! Secondly, once the firebox unit was installed, it looked very nice, but made a semi-quiet vibrating noise as the flames flickered. I like it SILENT when I sleep, and the noise irritated me. I opened the firebox to find that somehow the DC motor that rotates the reflector rod makes a vibrating noise against the thin metal it's attached to. I tried to oil the rod in a few spots but that didn't help. It's still noisy. Third, the boards were not all perfect fits. Some boards did not fit together at 90 degrees where they were supposed to. I was still able to forcefully assemble everything but one or two boards were slightly warped or just didn't fit perfect. Last, one of the back panels had water spots on it. --Obvious in the light, but not noticeable in a shadow. Some poor quality control there. Oh - also the heater fan and thermostat switch are kinda loud. The heater blower, well, sounds like a fan of course and when the thermostat clicks on and off, it sounds like a loud light switch clicking. Now, the color of the wood was nice and the flames and glowing log looked nice. But the construction, wood, and hardware quality is not worth the HIGH PRICE in my opinion.

Solid, heavy, well built, nicely engineered, nice finish, I'm very impressed. It took 3 solid hours to put it all together, but it's not hard to do, just takes quite a few steps. But once it's done, it really looks nice. I put a 55" flat screen on it, which looks great, so don't think it can't take more than the 40" they say in the description. The fireplace looks great too, I was mildly surprised how pretty it is. The heater works well but the fan is a little louder than I'd like, but I didn't buy it to heat my living room, just to have a some type of fireplace to put my tv on, and this was by far the cheapest way to go. I'd definitely recommend it. Build quality is excellent, and finish is beautiful.

I had been shopping around for a fireplace with a display/bookcase for my living room when I came across this unit online. I was concerned the it was going to be made of particle board but it looked to be good quality and the other reviews were mostly favorable-- so I decided to order it. When it arrived I was very surprised to find that the entire unit was real wood (Not just the face or the visible pieces) I thought this was an important factor to call out for others considering a purchase. The unit, like others have indicated before me, takes some time and care to assemble but is relatively easy. The unit is assembled using a combination of wood screws and cam/stud hardware. I did run into an issue with a couple of the cams not lining up but was able to work through them. You will need at least one additional person to help stabilize the unit while it is being assembled. One final note of importance-- this unit was offered by a couple different sources on Amazon and this one offered the best price and free shipping through Prime.

This is a giant piece of garbage!!! I've put together other fireplaces:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UJFJ6G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZNJO0C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1Both were well thought-through by the designers, well-built, and look nice - and close to the pic on amazon in color. However, this pile of sh!t was designed by a retarded idiot because the steps in which it is supposed to be put together are actually counter-productive! It literally destroyed the damn thing! The tightening bolts got ripped out, everything is awfully loose and gangly until you put the second to last piece in (frame behind the side panels) that has to be screwed to everything else. Only once that piece has been screwed (and the delivered screws are too short for some of the spots where you are supposed to put them in), the damn thing finally has some stability. By that point, however, you've already lost your mind ... besides that, this piece of garbage is way, way, way darker than what the image on amazon portrays - it's almost black!!!Once you've finally got everything working and standing, the flame looks actually quite nice ...DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!! You'll waste your money, go bonkers while you are putting this together, and then you wonder whether you will actually keep it because the color is so different than what you thought it will be ...

This product started to come apart before we even got the main part together. Nothing but partical board!! I really liked the looked, but was soooo disappointed.

This is a wonderful unit that looks very good. It also puts out allot of heat. You will need 2 people to put this together at some point as the main center unit has to be held together by one person while the other one screws the pieces together. You should know that the bookcases are free standing and do not attach to the unit. In addition they do not sit up against the center unit so well so that you have a small gap between the bookcases and the center unit. Also, the top mantel of the main unit does not screw together tightly in my unit so there is a mall gap on top.
