This is the first espresso machine I have owned, so I won't be comparing it to other machines. I've had the machine for about 5-6 months now, using it once or twice nearly every day with no problems.I have been drinking espresso for a long time and I appreciate a well-balanced, properly extracted, silky crema and rich cup of gold. This machine is quick and consistent with every cup. With the touch of a button, you can go from bean to drinking within seconds. I prefer heavy thick espresso, so I keep it at it's finest setting for a powerful cup. There are two methods to set the potency: one to adjust the coarseness of the grind and one to adjust how much to brew in each cup. You can use pre-ground as well, however, I have not tried it.The steamer works fantastically and takes mere seconds to warm up. The design makes a great foam on top for a perfect cappuccino or latte. It's easy to keep clean and it is very easy to set up right out of the box. The brushed finish leaves no fingerprints and the steam wand wipes clean with a damp rag very easily. The machine is built sturdy and is very low profile, which is great for smaller kitchens lacking counter-space. You can adjust the height of the spout for different sized cups. The full operation (grinding, tamping, brewing, and disposing) is not loud at all compared to some machines I have heard.Since the machine is relatively small in size, it does not hold a massive quantity of beans, the water tank does have to be filled often (but it is very easy to fill), and the waste bucket needs to be emptied after 4-5 uses (easy to dump).I have nothing bad to say about the design, operation, interfacing, or maintenance of this machine. I highly recommend it to anyone and wouldn't return it for anything. It truly is the best part of waking up!--Salud!

We have had this machine for a couple of months and love it. We spent a lot of time looking at different machines. We were looking for durability, brew quality and price (I know, not a big surprise). Finding all three is a challenge in the superatomatics. The Saeco Syntia seems to meet all our needs. It costs a little more than some of the others, but the issue I saw again and again with cheaper models was that they just didn't hold up. There were very few reviews outlining any problems with the Syntia. So far everything is great. The documentation with the machine is just OK. I strongly recommend viewing the how-to videos on You-Tube by Saeco; they were very helpful. The machine is much smaller than I thought it would be and fits very nice on our kitchen counter taking up just a little more space than a coffee maker. For the savings in space, the size of the water tank is sacrificed; we need to fill it every day. This is the only complaint thus far. We are very happy with the performance.

I have had my machine for over 3 years.During that time, I have found it to be very reliable- consistently producing good quality coffee with ease. In particular, the machine produces coffee not only with consistent flavor, but also with an excellent crema- a hallmark of good coffee making!Subject to performing regular maintenance tasks, it is remarkable how this machine produces great coffee so easily with just a push of a button. The strength of the coffee and amount of coffee made per serving can be selected easily by pushing the appropriate button. It can make one large cup, or either one or two small cups at a time. A small cup provides sufficient coffee for a large cup when you add milk. The amount of coffee made per serving can be adjusted, to suit a particular sized cup or mug.An illuminated electronic display informs you regarding the status of the machine, and the need to perform maintenance operations, such as replenishing water and coffee, emptying of the grounds collection receptacle, as well as other operations required less frequently.Also:1. It can froth milk for making specialty coffees and hot chocolate drinks.2. It dispenses hot water, for making tea. These additional functions are controlled by a large centrally located knob.I suggest you consider these points before buying:1. It is a compact machine- for home use. The water and coffee receptacles are quite small- the water receptacle holds sufficient water for two large cups of coffee, or four espressos. For office use, you need a larger machine. While the information above states that the machine has a 40 oz.Read more ›

I spent quite a bit of time shopping around for a new super-automatic machine to replace my DeLonghi (its control board was dying after 5 years and didn't want to spend the money to repair it). I was looking for a basic machine:1. Only one person using it, so no fancy user-programmable settings.2. Always make the same thing, one double latte in the morning, so no heavy-duty or high-capacity machine needed.3. Wanted a smaller machine, that wouldn't take too much counter space. This seemed to fit the bill. After 6 months here's my review.Pros:-Makes great espresso. I can push the espresso button twice and it makes a double. Easy.-Makes a decent Americano.-Bean holder is sealed so presumably keeps beans fresher.-Machine is very small and attractive so looks good on the counter.-Water and grounds holders pull out from the front so are easy to refill/clean.Cons:-I HATE THE DRIPPINGS TRAY. First, it fills up quickly because it's small and it mostly catches water from the brew unit. So even if you don't let anything drip from rinsing, it will fill up quickly.-I HATE CLEANING THE DRIPPINGS TRAY. It is very difficult to pull it out, so when you manage to jerk it out it, there's no way to keep it from getting gross coffee water ALL OVER YOUR HARDWOOD FLOOR AND WOOL THROW RUG WHICH COSTS $30 TO CLEAN AND IN THE GROUT OF YOUR TILE COUNTER. Rant over.-The brew unit comes out easily to clean, but not so easy to get back in.-The beans holder, water container, and grounds container are all small, but for one person this isn't a big deal, but if I used this machine more it would probably be a deal breaker.-The frothing wand is a pain to use and a bigger pain to clean.Read more ›
