5 out of 5 stars Lovely Machine
K. Moore

I received this AeroGarden on December 14th and planted it that night. 16 days later, I'm looking at 1/2-1" sprouts from my phlox, petunias and stock. This garden is simple to set up and use- it takes only a few minutes to get it all going. The water circulation pump is pretty quiet, not distracting at all. Maintenance is a snap, you don't really need to do anything but pop in a nutrient tablet and add more water about once every two weeks.I'm keeping this in my kitchen, I was hoping to keep it in the bedroom so I could have some nice flowers there, but this garden's lights run on a default 17-hours-on, 7-hours-off schedule, and there's no option to change that (other than a manual on/off button that should see only occasional use)- so unless I want very bright light at some point during my sleep cycle, keeping it in certain locations isn't a good idea. There aren't any options for personalization- just a simple on and off light cycle- so if you're looking for customizing the garden for a certain type of plant or certain nutrient cycle, you'll be better off buying a more complex AeroGarden.Overall, this is an excellent machine, very easy to use and grow with the AeroGarden kits- I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has trouble growing plants in any other medium (like myself)!

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing build quality

I bought two AG3 (external airline version) around Oct 2009, so I have used them for about 10 months now. I have been growing salad exclusively, on 3rd season right now. My conclusion thus far is that this is a toy not a real appliance. It works amazingly well for what it's for, when it works...The seed germinates about the same speed as if you use a Jiffy peat pod, but the rate which it grows is amazing, it will gain an inch a day. If you use everything OEM, light bulb, seed kit, nutrient packets, then by my calculation, I was roughly breaking even. This is more fun, clean and I can pick it for salad or sandwich anytime I need it, plus we no longer need a night light in the living room. I had planned all along to reuse the growing basket, use my own seed, sponge and liquid nutrient once the OEM supplies runs out, so that it would be more cost effective. I would have given it 5 stars at this point and I had recommended it to a friend after one month. My AG3s was pretty quiet, you had to put your ears right up against it to hear the hum from the pump. My boyfriend has pretty sensitive hearing, we have ours in our living room and it didn't bother him. So I didn't quite understand why when my friend, whom bought one at my recommendation, told me it was too loud for him to keep it at home. Some of the seed kit didn't germinate well, often 1 out of 3 would fail or get moldy etc. Mostly this is due to randomness of where seed is located in the pod relative to water. AeroGarden seed kits has 100% germination guaranty, each time I emailed the customer service about this, they would send me replacements. At about months 3, the light on one of the AG3 wouldn't come back on any more. I wrote to customer service and they sent me a replacement bulb.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Works great! But, the white model is too bright
A. Brown

I love my aerogarden 3! The plants are growing beautifully. My only concern was that the white color of the model that I ordered made the light reflect brighter into my eyes, and it was a bit annoying at night. With the grow light shining down, it would reflect back up into my eyes off the white grow surface. I actually ended up spray painting the grow surface with a flat black spray paint and it worked beautifully! I think it looks pretty good like that too!

1 out of 5 stars A big disappointment

I bought this item for my wife for Christmas. Following instructions, the seeds came up, and then turned light green, withered, and died. We have done as the instructions said, and are quite unhappy with the results. We would be willing to give it another try if we could get additional English Garden seed pods, as we originally bought. We are mature, in our 70's, and not used to complaining, but this kit is certainly not up to expectation.Gene Lehman

2 out of 5 stars Don't Bother
The Queen of Floydavia

I bought one of these on sale. As an avid gardener of 40 years I thought it might be fun for the winter time. It is noisy, poorly constructed, and 2 out of three of the seed pods didn't do squat. It got covered with aphids and was a mess to clean out. Never had these kinds of problems growing under lights in soil. Don't waste your time or your money.

This product is very noisy. There is a constant hum. It's supposed to be plugged in for 17 hrs/day, but I find the noise irritating. I wouldn't buy it again.

1 out of 5 stars Flowers did not grow and poor customer support
Jorge Alberto Reza

So I got this as a gift for my dad and the first one came DOA (the air pump did not work) once I got the second one I followed all of the instructions on the kit and yes, the flower started to grow, but as time passed it started to rot and eventually all of them diedI would not recommend this product
