I was looking for a coffeemaker, 12 cup, with a thermal carafe. I also wanted a removable water tank and grounds basket. I also looked forward to having a clock on my coffeemaker that I could actually see. This one seemed to have all that. This coffeemaker worked perfectly for about 10 days. Why 10 days, I wish I knew, but at that time, I started to find coffee all over the counter every morning. I determined that it was definitely coffee and not water. After about three days of counter mopping and putting less and less water in the tank, it was still leaking. I had looked at everything I was doing, and it should have been right. That only leaves the coffeemaker. The only thing it could be, it seemed to me, is that the carafe (lid?) was getting an airlock when it got full to a certain point. Easily tested. I removed the stopper from the bottom of the grounds basket and the next morning I left the lid off the carafe and made a pot of coffee without the timer. No coffee on the counter, worked perfectly. I was right, the carafe and/or its lid gets an airlock on it. So I have to get up every morning and do the coffee by hand. It's not so bad, but making the coffee with the open carafe makes colder coffee. It is, however, a blessing not to have to set this thing every night anymore. There is a convoluted way of pressing three buttons about 6 times that is not not handy and is highly irritating. I would have returned it, but I live in a very small place, and I can't hang on to big boxes. I have no place to store them, so after a week of good results, I got rid of it. I would recommend anyone stay away from this coffeemaker. For such a high price, it is a real lemon.

1 out of 5 stars ALL stands for Air Lock Lid: Don't purchase this pot!

I concur: This pot worked perfectly for 10 days. After that it started pouring coffee all over my counters, into drawers below, onto floor, under dishwasher. It is not overflowing the grounds basket. It gets an air lock in the lid which prevents all the coffee from entering the carafe. About half, or two-thirds enters the pot... then, AIR LOCK! I've written to Kitchenaid 3 times now with no response. I've tried running the 'clean' cycle. I've tried putting in less water. Now I keep the pot sitting in a baking dish that catches the out-pouring of coffee every morning. For a high-priced coffee maker, I am disappointed.
