Description

Italian passion for elegant design, a penchant for color, and technological innovation characterize the De’Longhi Icona collection. The Icona Pump Espresso Machine is inspired by vintage Italian design that blends intuitive controls with bold finishes and quality materials. The dual filter holder, combined with the Icona’s high-pressure pump extraction, create caramel-colored crema with every use. Professional-style features include a warming plate on top of the machine to keep cups warm before use, as well as De'Longhi’s patented milk frothing Cappuccino System that enables you to make rich, thick, long-lasting foam for your latte or cappuccino. The Icona Pump Espresso Machine evokes the Italian spirit of la dolce vita, enhancing the design of any modern kitchen with a touch of style. The Icona Collection, which also includes the Icona Electric Kettle and the Icona 2 Slice Toaster, is inspired by the bold, striking lines of 1950s Italian design; a time when Italy was just beginning to dictate the rules of fashion and style to the world. Stylish design enhances any kitchen.

The high-pressure pump creates the foamy crema that gives espresso its rich flavor. Multifunctional Filter Holder and Convenient Built-In Coffee Tamper The filter holder is compatible with ground coffee as well as Easy Serving Espresso (ESE) pods. Offered by some of the world’s leading coffee roasters, including Illy and Starbucks, ESE pods are pre-portioned, so they take the guesswork out of preparation and are easier to clean up than ground coffee. Rails on the sides of the cup warming plate protect cups from accidentally falling off. The coffee tamper is built in, so you have one less piece of equipment cluttering your preparation space. Refill the 48-ounce water reservoir by lifting it out of the machine using its specially designed handle. Intuitive Control Panel This espresso pump's face includes three indicator buttons with corresponding lights to show whether the unit is on or off, the temperature of the coffee or hot water, and the pressure of the steam. The knob on top of the machine regulates the volume of steam released through the Cappuccino System steam wand.
Need to push the button to heat the water and then, when the light green is on, push the button to operate the pump in order to release water. If the button for the heating element to warm the water is not pushed will result in delivery of cold water.
Cappuccino System pushes steam and air through milk to create foam.

5 out of 5 stars This is the best I have used at home to date.

Have purchased a few espresso makers from amazon, but they all broke just after warranty and were never. Have always tried to stay under $200, which could be the reason. This one is the best I have had to date.Great product. The espresso holder is a little small, it makes a little smaller cup that I am used to, but that has been working out fine for me. I am sure that opinions regarding that will differ though. The well below the steamer and espresso spout is huge, there is no spillage outside the well, which is new for me and can handle enough liquid that you could leave this on for several cups of espresso without it overflowing. It also covers the steam wand as well. I have a tall stainless steel cup for frothing and it has never been easy to get it under the spout of my other makers, but this one I can get it under and rest on the base until I need to start moving it around, plenty of room for this tall frother cup.Water well is quite large and it actually heats my cups on the top, something that none of the others I had could do, but advertised it.The finish (white) looks great and it is well made, very sturdy. I am very happy with this model and will most likely stick with them forever unless I splurge for one of the $600-1,000 makers.

5 out of 5 stars Great Espresso at a great price

I've had several espresso machines over the years. Some were expensive and a few, like this one, were inexpensive. This machine makes better espresso than the more expensive machines I've owned. This machine is truly a no-brainer. I start my day with several espressos and avoid most chain coffee espressos. This inexpensive machine makes wonderful espressos with lots of rich crema floating on top. I'm savoring my morning espressos more because they taste so good. I haven't tried to foam milk because I don't use it so I can't speak to how effective the milk foamer is. You can't go wrong with this machine.

Works fantastic! We have had Mr Coffee cheap steam espresso machines ( multiple because they don't last) and this is FAR superior. We finally decided to bite the bullet and spend a little more money. We have had it for a month or so and have no complaints! The froth it makes with the milk is amazing. The espresso is fabulous and has that wonderful crema everytime. We love that the frother has enough room to fit a normal frothing mug underneath. Also love that it comes with two different filter sizes- one for a single and one for a double. Not hard to use for even an intermediate/ amateur barista. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice machine that's not overly pricey.

First of all this thing looks NICE on my countertops.I am sure it will be a topic of conversation. And it works very very well. The frother felt like a cannon at first. It works and the nossel is long enough. The price was also attractive.I already bought the cleaning tablets and will only use purified water. If I get three years out of it I will be very happy.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY unless you are willing to risk potential issues!

When I received this espresso maker it leaked water from the frother making a mess on the counter. Contacted seller and returned at my expense($32). Two months later I received my "replacement" that was "tested to not leak." Actually, it was the same unit I sent in(made an identifying mark before returning) and guess what...still leaking. So after 2 months and $32 I'm right where I started. Not going to throw good money after bad and will be buying a different machine from a different dealer (shame on you Cucinabella!).

1 out of 5 stars Don't bother with this one...

It leaked...all over. And often. This was before I tried to make a cup of coffee! It appeared to be a gasket problem. However, for a brand new machine and the money paid for it,I should not have to get the gasket replaced....I sent it back. It is a shame, it was a good looking, well designed machine, and I wanted my coffee!

4 out of 5 stars Needs to make larger shots
Rich246

The machine works as advertized, but I am disappointed in the size of the larger basket, it isn't very large. all my other machines have had a 30% larger basket (More coffee larger shots) So I have to settle for a smaller drink, or make another shot. It is easy to use.

1 out of 5 stars Worst customer service and warranty policies
Thorsten Hafner

Bought this machine new and it started leaking after only a week. I thought "not a big deal - I have warranty" and contacted DeLonghi customer service which told me to bring it to a service location near my home. It took 4 weeks to repair and started leaking again within the first week. I wrote an e-mail to the customer service from DeLonghi again which told me that the machine can't be replaced until it would be irreparable. So I asked politely to organize the repair and never got an answer even after 3 follow up e-mails - another lost month- Then I picked up the phone to call and figure out what happened and got told that this is a service centre liability and that I would have to figure this out with the service centre by myself. The service centre agreed to give it another try which will take 3-4 weeks. Even for 3 Months without the coffee maker DeLonghi won't extend the warranty nor are there any other ways to compensate me for time and money wasted carrying the broken coffee maker to the service centre - not to talk about buying a coffee maker and not being able to use it most of the time. This coffee maker looks pretty but pray it won't break as the customer service from DeLonghi is the worst I experienced till today.
